Behind the Scenes: A Product Shoot with Star Gift Alliance

Every few months, we partner with Star Gift Alliance (SGA) to capture their latest branded products. These shoots keep their website and social channels fresh while giving us a closer look at the creativity behind their work.

Setting the Scene

In October, we headed to North Adams, Massachusetts, for a two-day, on-location shoot. The goal was simple: update the content library for SGA with new products from recent client projects while keeping the visuals consistent with earlier shoots.

We wanted the images to feel slightly theatrical but still crisp and true to the products. Shooting in and around their own space gave us the chance to capture studio-quality shots alongside real, behind-the-scenes moments from their day-to-day work.

“There’s something about shooting in a client’s own space that tells a more authentic story. You see how they move, how they think, how their work comes to life.” — Lindsay Schwartz

Planning and Direction

Before picking up the camera, we mapped out a detailed shot list. By the end of our first day on site, every product had a plan. Lindsay led creative direction, keeping the visuals cohesive with SGA’s brand while leaving space for moments of spontaneity.

The creative focus was to show that SGA makes branded items people actually want to use. We pulled in some of their most distinctive pieces to highlight just how creative they can be.

“Our goal was to show that SGA makes swag people actually want and that they can make their clients’ swag and merch dreams come true. Each piece is practical, fun, and designed with intention.” — Rebekah Carney Millsaps

On Set

Day one was all setup: organizing products, testing lighting, and choosing backdrops. Day two was full production. We started with clean product shots indoors before moving outside to catch the late-day light.

SGA’s team was with us throughout, helping brainstorm setups and problem-solve details in real time. The collaboration felt natural, and it’s part of what makes these ongoing shoots so productive.

And of course, the highlight of the day was the dogs. Always the entertainers, they added levity and personality to every shot.

“Dill and Olive are part of the crew. And they love to have their moment in front of the camera! (Mostly because they know it means they get a treat…)” — Rebekah Carney Millsaps

From Shoot to Screen

In post-production, we refined the images for SGA’s website and social media. We also created product gifs and short video clips to help potential clients see the texture and movement of each item.

The final collection is clean, versatile, and designed to perform across channels. It’s content that not only looks good but works hard for the brand.

“We’re always thinking about how content will live. Not just how it looks in a gallery, but how it performs on a feed.” — Lindsay Schwartz

Reflecting on the Work

Projects like this show what makes LSCC’s partnerships different. We don’t create from a distance. We show up in our clients’ spaces, get hands-on with their products, and collaborate as part of their team. That proximity helps us make content that feels authentic and connected, not staged or surface-level.

Next up, we’ll join SGA again for their speakeasy activation at The Conference Live at Lititz. If you’re planning to attend, we hope you’ll stop by their Shore Shop and say hello.
